The Gloved One & the God of Secularism

When higher education is lower

According to one online dictionary, "secularism" is defined as "the view that public education and other matters of civil policy should be conducted without the introduction of a religious element."

While Michael Joseph Jackson recognized and respected the difference between public and religious schools, he personally felt that "The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge." (Proverbs 1:7, New World Translation) God had to be in the mix.

Another word for "fear" in both Biblical Hebrew and Greek is "respect." So, acknowledging the existence of God and respecting what he says in the Bible is "the beginning of knowledge."

Remarkably, this simple truth is beyond the comprehension of some very well educated people who pride themselves in being secularists. Jesus talked about them.

Hidden Wisdom: "I praise you publicly, Father," prayed Jesus, "Lord of heaven and earth, because you've chosen to encrypt these wonderful truths so that arrogant intellects could not decipher them; but you have revealed these same truths to those with childlike humility." (Matthew 11:25, Carr's Christian Bible) Indeed, geniuses are humble people, and they know what happens when the truth about God is ignored on college campuses.

Conflict on College Campuses: In discussing the history of post-WWII terrorism, one college textbook says: "As on many university campuses of the 1960s, both Communism and Marxism were prevalent." Turning to terrorism in Italy the same book says: "Like many other left-wing movements, the Red Brigade (RB) has its fundamental origins on the Italian university campuses in the latter half of the 1960s."

What about November 17 and ELA--the top two revolutionary groups in Greece--and the roots from which they sprang? The November 17 group "originates from the university campuses of Greece, much like other left-wing groups in the 1970s. The group's name, November 17, commemorates the date of the attack on the students, NTUA (National Technical University of Athens), on November 17, 1975. Greek military and police ... killed several student activists and captured and tortured many more."

"The second-most destructive group operating on Greek soil," the book continues, "Espanastatikos Laikos Agonas (ELA, Revolutionary Peoples Struggle), is also committed to the overthrow of the Greek system and is a violent Marxist-Leninist organization. ... It also grew out of the university campuses of the 1960s and early 1970s."

Worldly Wisdom: "Scripture says, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will reject the intelligence of intelligent people.' Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the persuasive speaker of our time? Hasn't God turned the wisdom of the world into nonsense? The world with its wisdom was unable to recognize God in terms of his own wisdom.

"So God decided to use the nonsense of the Good News we speak to save those who believe. Jews ask for miraculous signs, and Greeks look for wisdom, but our message is that Christ was crucified. This offends Jewish people and makes no sense to people who are not Jewish. But to those Jews and Greeks who are called, he is Christ, God's power and God's wisdom.

"God's nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength."--1 Corinthians 1:19-25, God's Word Translation.

"Look at your situation when you were called, brothers and sisters! By ordinary human standards not many were wise, not many were powerful, not many were from the upper class. But God chose what the world considers foolish to shame the wise.

"God chose what the world considers weak to shame the strong. And God chose what the world considers low-class and low-life--what is considered to be nothing--to reduce what is considered to be something to nothing."--1 Corinthians 1:26-28, Common English Bible.

False Knowledge: "O Timothy, guard what is laid up in trust with you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called ‘knowledge.' For making a show of such knowledge some have deviated from the faith."--1 Timothy 6:20, 21, New World Translation.

Conclusion: What have we learned class? One revolutionary group overthrows the government until the next generation of revolutionaries attempts to overthrow it.  Satan the Devil is the "God of this present age," and the God of Secularism. (2 Corinthians 4:4, Weymouth New Testament) Only God's government will work. (Matthew 6:9, 10; Daniel 2:44) Peace and blessings to all--including my governmental official and revolutionary brothers and sisters. Amen.
